GulfQuest is a highlight of Mobile’s waterfront, as well as a highlight of Watermark Design Group’s project portfolio. The 90,000-square-foot interactive museum is dedicated to the Gulf Coast’s rich maritime traditions. The design of the high-tech museum features a large globe rising through the roof, representing the Gulf’s connection to the world. The simulation of a ship’s bridge, or control deck, reflects Mobile’s nautical connections. Other design features include observation decks, an orientation theater, meeting rooms and rooftop event space. A ferry and a bus terminal are incorporated into the design, and, in the future, may shuttle guests to the museum, one of only three in the world dedicated to maritime history.
Watermark partnered with sister company Thompson Engineering for a seamless flow of design and engineering services on this project, which welcomes its first visitors in Spring 2015.
